Although Olomouc has just one university, it deserves a special mention. First of all a little about Olomouc which is in Moravia in the Czech Republic. The people of this city are known to be especially friendly and helpful. During a recent visit I discovered first hand that this reputation is well deserved. And what is one to say about Olomouc itself. Pretty as a picture, the city vibrates with positive energy all round.

With this article we begin a series that shall provide you with information on cities that distinguish themselves as educational centers. We begin with Brno in the Czech Republic which  is a city of many dimensions. Among these the city is known for its educational institutions that attract students from far and wide. With an estimated population of 1.3 million, comprises of over 20 percent that are students.

Last week we started a new series of University Cities with Brno, Czech Republic. Continuing with our series on university cities we have a look at Prague this week.

From 23rd to 27th of November, Youth Time International Movement in collaboration with the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare in the UAE hosted its third annual Youth Global Forum. The location for hosting the event was the cosmopolitan metropolis of Dubai with the forum bringing together experts and participants coming from a diverse range of countries and backgrounds. Attendees were exposed to a variety of innovative masterclasses and workshops which touched upon topics related to the overall theme of the event – Ethical Entrepreneurship in the Time of a Competitive Knowledge-based Economy. Further, thirteen social enterprise projects were presented by participants with one winner receiving Youth Time’s Idea Grant to convert their idea into a reality!

Young people today have access to a wide range of programs to study abroad, and the number of them is constantly growing. Studying abroad is a great chance to see how the systems in other countries work, and also to test yourself as a person. A typical list of advantages that come along includes new friendships, experiences, traveling, and so on. As with everything else in life, not even this resists turning into a cliché. The reason is that many perceive a semester or a year abroad as an “academic vacation“. For all of you who are about to go abroad and study as exchange students, take a moment to decide whether you just want months of fun, or a meaningful experience (which doesn’t exclude wild parties).

Since 2012, an international Prize for Contemporary African Photography (CAP) has been awarded annually to five artists – photographers who either have created their work in Africa or have based their work on the Africa diaspora. The time has come to choose the youth who will be awarded this great international achievement in 2017. The list of 25 artists who have made it to the final cut has been published, and their work has been marked as the beginning of a new African school of photography.
