The upcoming Winter Olympic Games 2018 in Pyeongchang, South Korea are knocking on the door. Let us remind ourselves of some of the moments of previous events before this year’s events begin.

"It´s cold like in Siberia" is one of the popular sayings linked to these cold months. And as it seems it is not far from truth. Some places experience winter temperatures that drop down to -50C. Feeling cold? Not the locals of Oymyakon in Russia, apparently. Children are excused from going to school only when it hits – 52.  People have their toilets outside, which might be quite challenging on such days. The lowest temperature recorded was -71,2C in 1933. This is not the only place where winters are so tough.

To identify yourself with a moral, principled, and generally acceptable hero is easy.  But it gets more interesting when all these qualities are absent and the character in a movie is left with limited potential to impress the audience. Standing at the edge of society, disliked or just tolerated by others – this weekend‘s movie picks will be distinguished by classic film antiheroes.

"Awfully pretty","virtual reality" and the "only choice"... these are a few examples of the daily use of oxymorons – rhetorical phrases with self-contradictory meanings. Some of them have been fully integrated into daily life. Do you use oxymorons often? Check out our gallery.

When it comes to furnishing houses or apartments, it would probably not be possible to find two that are exactly alike – but that is a topic for another time. Today, to the contrary, we’ll have a look at the most popular and widely admired home styles, whether inspired by Provence, the Mediterranean, Scandinavian decor or Colonial style, for instance. Which is your personal favourite?

Is there more to a human being than most of us recognize? Do dreams carry messages?  Does Extrasensory Perception exist?  Does Telepathy exist?  Dr. Stanley Krippner, professor of psychology at Saybrook University – who has conducted workshops in many parts of the world and is on the advisory board of the International School of Psychotherapy – will answer these questions and more in this interview.

At a time when a new architectural style had conquered Europe, the major characteristics of the new style dictated that it would mostly serve sacral purposes. Gothic Cathedrals were designed to bring the faithful closer to God through visual experience. The indoor and outdoor support system helped Gothic buildings to reach to great heights while delivering light at ground level. The supporting system served at the same time a decorative function. This unique performance in combination with ornamental vaults, and last but not least the colour effects of stained-glass windows, were fascinating then and continue to charm us today.

The beginning of the new year is usually a time to sum up the previous year and re-evaluate what happened in it. We at YT have completed the customary look back and review and have prepared for you a list of the most interesting and popular articles of 2017. Here they are:

Taking the easy route does not necessarily bring an easy result. On the other hand, not many take the hard way and make it work. Today´s movie selections are about those who didn´t give up even though their chances for succes were initially negligible. What their actions brought to them doesn´t require a long discussion. “Don´t limit your goals“ is the motto for this weekend´s movie picks.
